'Forrest Gump' star Gary Sinise tells Tomi Lahren why Americans should cherish everyday freedoms

Legendary actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise was a guest on the latest edition of OutKick's "Tomi Lahren is Fearless," and one of the things they touched on had to do with the idea that, as Americans, we should never take our freedoms for granted.

Lahren noted to the "Forrest Gump" star and veterans advocate that World Cup fans from around the globe were discovering rural and small-town America.

"And they love it," she said. "I mean, things as simple as air conditioning or going to a Buc-ee's gas station, people from the world are discovering not only America, but they're discovering like, middle America or small town America. And they're mesmerized by it."

She then brought up that, despite visitors loving America, a recent Gallup poll found that just 36% of Democrats consider themselves proud to be an American.

Sinise talked about how there are plenty of people around the world who have no concept of the freedoms we enjoy every day, and recounted what it's like to visit the DMZ between North and South Korea.

"A North Korean guard can come down, and he can be standing two feet away from you. And the South Koreans are behind you, looking toward North Korea. And the South Koreans understand what freedom is. They've lived with freedom for all their lives, these young folks. And this soldier who's standing two feet away from me, staring at me in the face, he has no concept of what living in a free society is."

"I don't take my freedom for granted," he said. "I don't take Buc-ee's for granted, I don't take air conditioning for granted, I don't take any of these things for granted because I know there are places on Earth that really don't really understand what those kinds of things are.

"You know, I saw somebody from Scotland, I think it was, that was in a restaurant, and they brought him some bread," Sinise continued. "And he said, 'How much is that?' And they said, 'Well, it comes with the meal...' And they were flabbergasted at that.

"So we're grateful that we have these, and I don't take them for granted."
